One of the major advantages of veneer is its stability. Solid wood can have problems such as warping, splitting but veneer does not have such issues. This is because it is made up of thin slices of wood which are glue together thus, reducing its chances for cracking or splitting.
Some projects would not be possible without veneer. This is because solid lumber is subjected to expansion and contraction due to change in temperature and humidity.
Another advantage of veneer that makes it preferable over wood, is that its sustainability. Furniture composed of wood veneer used much less wood in comparison to solid wood.
Veneer is also very easily available in the market unlike exotic hardwood lumber which is difficult to find and is expensive.
